Baboon
When we were at the zoo, we showed the baboons to James and repeated "baboon" to him several times. Since then, he has been saying "boomboom", every few hours.
Overland Park rules and so does Kansas City, I'll make that today's blog topic.
Karen just found out that our son was originally named Naked Raygun. That was funny.
Unofficially, Naked Raygun's first word was "butter". When he was about a week old, he said butter in a very clear, adult tone. It actually surprised me because it was late at night and it didn't sound like baby talk at all. It sounded just like as if I had said it slowly and deliberately.
James' first word that he understood was "hair". We taught him to put his hands on his head when we asked him where his hair was, and to our surprise and delight, he started to repeat it when he did it. Every once in a while he will put his hands on his head and say "hair" for no reason. He now knows what Ritz crackers are, asks for them (sounds like wittz) by name, and he also loves bananas with every ounce of his being, even though he can't say "bananas" yet. He also says mama and dada, but I don't think he knows what they mean yet.
The first time I started up the Jeep that I had just bought, James said, "Daddy, does your Jeep have a cold? It sounds like your Jeep has a cold. Why does it sound like it has a cold. Is it sick, Daddy?"

Dude, he's going to be a frickin' genious. Both you and Karen are geek-a-zoids, and James is going to be soooo smart.
:D
Aww... little Naked Raygun learned to say red assed monkey!
That's cute!
What was his first word, by the way?
John,
Tell us about Overland Park and Kansas City. I've never been to KC. What is it like?
